Adult Recumbent Tricycle Rental 


The Recumbent Tricycle Rental Program makes the Minuteman Bikeway more accessible to adult residents with disabilities, chronic pain, or balance challenges. The program was developed through a partnership among the Arlington Disability Commission, the Arlington Health & Human Services Department, and the Arlington Recreation Department, and made possible by a grant from the Massachusetts Office on Disability.

This pilot program is available on one weekday from 11am – 3pm, for one-hour slots, and advanced registration is required. The schedule may expand based on demand and feedback. Rentals are located in a corner of the parking lot of the Ed Burns Arena, near the entrance to the Hill’s Hill field. Staff or volunteers will help with adjusting the trike for a person’s leg length, but please note that participants should be able to mount and dismount the trike independently, or bring a helper. Helmets are mandatory—either the helmet provided with the rental, or your own.

Advanced registration is required. Renters must read the information & safety recommendations, and fill out the release form, below.

Please submit the Trike Rental Release Form to Disabilitycomm@town.arlington.ma.us, or bring a printed copy to your trike rental session.
